A worldwide collaboration facing the challenges of sustainable comminution

In order to promote our long term goals, the GCC is now opening up to a wider membership, so that more like-minded researchers can join the group and enhance the delivery of common outputs to industry. This is done in a manner to retain the values and purpose upon which this outstandingly successful collaboration was born.

The chosen pathway to extend the GCC is to retain the basis of individual membership through invitation. Research & teaching Institutions, and companies are invited as Partners via the individual members. Through this the Institutes and companies can provide access to their broader staff and students to the activities, education, and outcomes of the GCC. Through the entity we can facilitate research linkages back to the partner University research groups, collaborative projects, and direct delivery to mines from our members.

ACTIVITIES

The activities of the GCC are undertaken with the core ideals and GCC purpose in mind. Currently, membership and partnership with the GCC provides access to:

  • On-line Toolbox – for use by plant metallurgists in conducting every-day process calculation in a consistent and correct manner. These are Excel based for easy interaction.
  • Education – monthly seminars and extended workshops, courses, technical seminars (majority online).
  • Projects – individually financed as they arise out of identified alignment of skills and needs.
  • Comminution handbook – comprehensive handbook on comminution practice (in development).
  • Dynamic simulation – development of models and simulations tools that allows for real-time dynamic response of the circuit to natural variation and control inputs to be predicted and controlled (in development).

PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP

Membership is as individuals only. New members need to be nominated by a member and seconded by two members as a written submission to the Board for approval of membership. Members have to pay an annual membership fee. The Association is directed by an elected six-member Board, drawn from long-standing members of the GCC. There is an Associate members category for young upcoming professionals to be invited into the Association.

PARTNERS

Research Institutes and companies are invited to become Partners with the GCC Association, to spread the influence and benefits across the globe.

  • Partnership is via nomination and held through an individual member, carrying no voting rights.
  • A Collaboration Agreement covers joint contracting of projects and the basis of sharing IP and ideas between Members.
  • An annual membership fee provides all partner´s employees and students access to the activities and outputs of the Association, including exclusive member-only workshops, training, tools, modelling outputs and similar; plus preferential access to shared R&D projects and associated funding.

BENEFITS

We offer a range of direct benefits though being associated with the global community of specialists. At the heart is being connected to leading comminution research groups around the globe, linked to research direction, latest developments in technology and process prediction, a first-hand look at talent you may wish to work with, or recruit. As a comminution community we have the opportunity to share ideas across institutes, mining houses, a wide range of comminution and recovery processes.
